Oh what fun in a VW Campervan Tent

A trip up the coast in your combi van is exactly what you feel like at this time of the year, some may not have access to one with an actual engine and moving wheels but that doesn't matter with this very convincing tent. Isn't it just a wonderful idea? Some of my friends scored this for Christmas and I have to say I was a little jealous.
In my photos the tent floor or fly screen isn't set up but it does come with it. If you are a big camper or you just love funky designs like this then you should check them out on the remogeneralstore.com they are around the $550 price range.
...and HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

HAVE A PEACHY CHRISTMAS!

Shop X-mas windows that inspire me...

ONE Sleep till Santa comes....

I've just been poppin' around Sydney town enjoying life and snapping inspiring shop windows along the way.  It really is that time of the year when shop keepers/companies think outside the box to depict their Chrissie spirit.
The ones that I admire most are the one's that you appreciate from a distance, then when you go up closer they have actually been created using recycled materials or unexpected everyday objects. It goes to show you don't need to spend copious amounts of money to create something special.

The third photo from the top posted above is just pink, green and orange plastic strainers most likely found in a $2 shop, who would have thought that essentially an item of 'junk' could be used to create such a happy and pretty window display... I certainly wouldn't? But here I am posting about it so I definitely do approve.
I also have to make mention of the first picture posted above which is created using hanging shoe boxes with ribbon glued to the bottom spelling the words 'Love to Give'. The christmas tree is just ribbon tied to a hoop at the bottom and just bunched at the top. I first admired this window as I was driving past, it wasn't until I got out of my car to have a closer a look that I realised how economically yet effectively this window was done. Sambag always hit the jack pot!

Hope you enjoy these windows as much as I did!

EGG CHAIRS

What more does any interior need than an egg chair? I have a soft spot for these wonderful chairs. Not just because they are so aesthetically pleasing but also because it reminds me of my ever so tasteful grandmother who has owned an Arne Jacobson original for as long as i can remember. It brings me back to the days when I was a little girl who would spin around and around until I felt sufficiently dizzy.

A few months ago my longing for an egg chair was somewhat fulfilled when my Mum gave me this little chair for my boiled egg. I would never have imagined that my egg would get to sit in it's own egg chair before I.

And while I'm on the topic... If you're a little like me and can never predict the hardness/softness of your boiled egg then I highly recommend you invest in this gadget. All you do is throw it into the boiling water with your egg and the red circle will decrease in size as the boiled egg gets harder. Mine was purchased at the Bay Tree in Woollahra but they are not so hard to come across in Kitchenware shops.
 Brilliant huh?

Celebrating another wonderful year with my No Chintz friends...

I hope you all had a lovely fulfilling week, I certainly did!
I think my highlight would have to be my work x-mas party at 'John and Peter Canteen' in Everleigh. Apart from the lovely company and the brilliant food, I, along with my designer colleagues thought the interior of the space was both creative and a little inspiring. With the industrial feel of the old Carriage Works building the space was simply yet cleverly decorated!
I think the two ideas that did it for me would have to be the white tassels which hung around all four sides of the restaurant and moved slightly in the breeze and the long colourful table which had a patch work of differing ikat-like designs. I wonder if it was just wrapping paper pressed under a clear laminate?  Maybe any of us can create a table top like this for our homes?
I don't know if you're like me but I get a little excited when I get the opportunity to eat out at new funky restaurants, for the decor, the vibe, the atmosphere etc... just admiring the works of creative people. Oh and maybe a little for the food!

A heavenly 21st Birthday party set in the countryside...

A couple of weekends ago one of my dear friends hosted an absolutely amazing event set in a shed in the countryside of Bowral. I mean have you ever seen such a glamourous shed?
I really did feel like a princess when I was immediately handed a glass of champagne on arrival along with some fresh rice paper rolls and lots of other delicious nibbles. After some mingling all guests were seated at these beautiful white tables for a 3 course meal, salads for entrees, a selection of meats for mains and of course a delicious birthday cake for dessert... And let's not forget all the dancing.
I haven't stopped dreaming about this night since I was there almost 3 weeks ago, the atmosphere was just superb.

It's that time of year...

I think one of the best parts of the festive season is seeing all the different shop window displays and admiring creative household adornments. This is our little Christmas display for 2011, these beautiful stockings were hand felted by my sister, both my sister and I are keen felters and have been creating felted objects since we were about 10 years old.

But let's just hope Santa's able to fill them up this year.

OP SHOP TREASURES

A few months ago whilst popping into to one of my most favourite op shops I came across this absolutely gorgeous trim, I picked up 250 yards of it for something like 10 dollars.  I now display this spool of trim in  in my bedroom and I admire it everyday.  Occasionally I snip a bit off to wrap around a little  pressie for a friend, I've considered adorning a pair curtains in it it too? Who knows the options are endless.

So what makes this op shop find even better is that about a month after this buy I was once again flicking through 'Etc' one of my favourite interior books by Sibella Court and guess what I find?   I couldn't resist but take a snap shot of the page (as shown above).

I guess you never know what goodies you'll come across when you walk into an op shop.

Hello blogging, nice to meet you...

I've finally worked up the courage to start blogging mainly because i feel like I see a lot of beautiful things in my everyday life which i want to share with the rest of the world.
